About the Facilitator

Brandon Calloway is a Kansas City-based comic book creator who has been passionate about anime and comics since the age of 10. Fueled by a deep love for epic storytelling and a commitment to increasing representation of Black and Brown characters in anime, sci-fi, and fantasy, Brandon began crafting his own manga in 2018 with the creation of Black Spartans, which he published in 2020.

Since then, he has written five original stories—Black Spartans, Reign of Chaos, Michael, Knights of Olympus, and The Wolf of Kansas City—each one blending bold imagination with powerful cultural themes. His work is heavily inspired by iconic anime series like One Piece, Attack on Titan, Bleach, and My Hero Academia, and his stories often explore themes of legacy, resistance, and transformation.

Through his platform, Blerd Comics, Brandon is building a world where Blerds see themselves as heroes—not sidekicks—and where the next generation of creators is empowered to tell their own stories.
